Multipurpose Plastic Glue
IPS #40 is mostly acrylic monomer in composition and is a 2-part mix. This is the adhesive used by professionals for making aquariums and other bubble-free and highly structural bonds. It is the strongest of all the Plexiglass acrylic glues, and requires a bit of skill in its application. Excellent for bonding Plexiglass acrylic to other materials as well.
WELD-ON 40 is a 2-component, clear, medium syrupy, reactive acrylic cement. It polymerizes at room temperature, forming high strength joints within a few hours. The cemented joint retains high clarity, good strength and resistance to the effects of weathering and aging. In cases where a lower viscosity is desired, WELD-ON 3061 may be used as a reactive diluent. To maintain similar curing properties it is not recommended to dilute more than 10% to the undiluted WELD-ON 40, Component “A”. Meets MIL SPEC. A-8576 Type III.
WELD-ON 10 is formulated for large PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) pipe and fittings, but has been found to bond many other plastics and non plastics. Preliminary tests show good bond strength with PVC (vinyl) – rigid and flexible (with low plasticizer content), ABS, polycarbonate, styrene, acrylics, butyrate, hard rubber and possibly others not yet tested. It also bonds well to steel (plastics to steel or steel to itself), aluminum (not anodized) and other metals, concrete, and other substrates. It does not bond well to Neoprene or other synthetic rubber, Delrin, Celcon, and a few other plastics.
BONDING RECOMMENDATIONS
WELD-ON 10 is recommended for a variety of applications due to its high strength and versatility as a structural adhesive. It is used in the sign assembly industry, for bonding different metals to itself, or a variety of plastics. It also has many uses in other fabrication industries that bond ABS, acrylic, polycarbonate, PVC, as well as other plastics and substrates.
WELD-ON 10 is a two-part, white, high strength adhesive. It cures by the reaction of Component A (Base Resin) with Component B (Catalyst).
WELD-ON 1829 is a medium bodied, water-resistant, modified elastomer and light tan in color. It is a part solvent cement which cures with the dissipation of solvent to a very tough flexible film. It forms strong joints with rigid materials, but affords high impact resistance because of its flexibility. It is highly resistant to water, oil and gasoline. A thin film exposed to air will dry in 3 to 7 minutes.
USES
WELD-ON 1829 is being used in marine applications for bonding plasticized vinyls to masonry and metal and patching vinyl sheets. It is also used in upholstering vinyl seats, bonding vinyl to urethane foam, canvas, as well as other materials and attaching plastic letters to many substrates. OTHER USES: Bonding aluminum or vinyl extrusions to concrete, repair of sporting equipment, leather goods, shoes, saddles, belts and handbags.
