HIPS Styrene Plastic Glue
WELD-ON® 1802 is formulated to bond acrylic (poly-methyl methacrylate), ABS, cellulose, acetate butyrate, rigid PVC, and polystyrene to themselves and to each other. It does not bond to metal or glass.
SUGGESTED BONDING APPLICATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
WELD-ON 1802 is a multi-purpose acrylic plastic cement. It is recommended for use in a variety of applications such as large housings, signs, plastic letters, industrial fabrications, display tems, lenses and models.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
WELD-ON 1802 is a clear, thin bodied, medium set, solvent cement. It cures with the dissipation of solvents forming strong, water resistant, clear joints. Initial bonds form very quickly. Depending on size and conditions, some parts may be handled within just a few minutes of application. Bond strength will be considerable in a few hours and will reach high strength in 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, strength will gradually increase for a number of weeks. Cured Joints are water and weather resistant.
WELD-ON 2354 is formulated for bonding ABS, styrene (general purpose high impact), acrylics and poly-carbonates to themselves. It should not be used for joining dissimilar materials such as: ABS to styrene, ABS to acrylics, ABS to PVC or PVC to styrene.
BONDING RECOMMENDATIONS
WELD-ON 2354 is recommended for joining ABS, styrene and acrylics to themselves where a water-thin cement is desired. It is suitable and used on both large assemblies and small delicate assemblies. These include a wide variety of items: signs, large displays, lighting fixtures, housewares, electrical assemblies, decorator items and many other fabrications.
WELD-ON 3 is formulated for cementing acrylic (poly-methyl methacrylate) plastic to itself. It will also form strong bonds with other thermoplastics such as polystyrene, CAB (ccellulose acetate butyrate), PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol) and polycarbonate to themselves. It is not recommended for cross-linked acrylic.
SUGGESTED BONDING APPLICATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
WELD-ON 3 is used extensively in sign fabrication. Strong butt joints are made with flat sheets by using the soak method for such applications as cementing letters to acrylic panels. Butyrate trim-capping of acrylics is another highly recommended use for
WELD-ON 3 It is also widely used in the POP industry (e.g. display), and in the fabrication and bonding of plastic containers, housewares, bottles and any other applications using the capillary method.
