Multiwall Polycarbonate Sheets
ePlastics® sells a full line of multiwall polycarbonate sheets and is an authorized distributor of LEXAN™ Thermoclear multiwall and Polygal structured multiwall. This incredible plastic, with common names such as Palram, Suntuf, Verolite (in the horticultural market), LEXAN™ Thermoclear multiwall, and Polygal structured multiwall, offers endless possibilities in architectural applications.
The most popular profile is a 6mm thick double-wall polycarbonate sheet. This profile is available in 3 colors: clear, opal white and solar bronze. "Hammered Glass" is a new pattern that is very popular in modern architectural design for uses including room dividers, skylights, light covers, sun rooms, and more.
Ask about sheets over 20 feet! Multiwall sheets are manufactured in a standard 48-foot long sheet with either 48" or 72" widths. At ePlastics®, you can order any length sheet up to the maximum, but sheets over 23 feet require a dedicated truck for delivery.
- Class A per ASTM E-84
- Class CCI per ASTM D-635
- Maximum Flame Spread/Smoke Development: 0/85
Tested for 1500 hours in accordance with ASTM G 53 and QUV 313B. LEXAN™ Thermoclear sheet has outstanding impact performance over a wide temperature range, -40°C to +120°C, and also after prolonged outdoor exposure. As a roof glazing material LEXAN™ Thermoclear sheet is subject to extremes of weather; storms, hail-stones, wind, snowfalls and ice formation. Under these conditions, the product is virtually unbreakable and is able to withstand the subsequent temperature change to sunny conditions without breaking or buckling. In a test developed by the Dutch Testing Institute TNO, samples of LEXAN™ Thermoclear sheet have been subjected to simulated hail-stones of varying diameters without significant damage. A test sample is clamped into a metal frame and polymide balls of varying diameters are fired at the surface of the sample using a pressurized airgun. In practice, hail-stones with a diameter of 20 mm can reach a terminal velocity of around 21 m/s. Under these conditions materials such as glass and acrylic fail.
It should be noted that when the glass and the acrylic are tested their failure characteristics are typically brittle, whilst the LEXAN™ Thermoclear showed ductile behaviour: upon impact the ball will leave indentations but the sheet will not break.
High Light Transmission:
Our multiwall polycarbonate sheet offers a high degree of light transmittance while blocking harmful ultraviolet rays in its structured sheet form. In addition, it offers excellent thermal insulation properties.
The structured sheet is economical and light in weight and still is 10 times stronger than acrylic and 200 times stronger than glass.
Easily Fabricated On Site:
Highly flexible, our polycarbonate multiwall sheet can be easily cold-formed and will not crack or splinter during fabrication.
Anti-Drip / Anti-Fog Coating:
This high-tech coating ensures that greenhouse condensation is carried away from the roofing so that droplets will not damage your nursery stock.
ePlastics® offers a complete line of polycarbonate profiles to join-together and/or cap off you’re your structured sheets.
Interesting Use Case:
Multiwall polycarbonate plays a key role in the growing data center trend, creating “Hot Aisle Containment” surrounding the rows of computer servers. Put simply, servers are surrounded by multiwall enclosures that prevent the hot air exhausted from the servers from mixing with the conditioned air that is introduced to keep the servers operating efficiently. This approach makes the overall cooling system more energy efficient.
